About Us
Seventy-Two Years of Business:
New Orleans Novelty Company has a long and colorful history
in the amusement game business. We are known throughout the
country for being distributors, operators and innovators.
Famous for selling first-class, reconditioned used games worldwide
and famous for fast and efficient service. Famous for new
concepts in pay for play entertainment.
Louis Boasberg founded the company while playing football
for Tulane University's Rose Bowl Team in the early thirties.
Football helmits were optional then. Louis was a gentleman
and a scholar, a historian, a writer and a pioneer in the
amusement game business. His son Jack and grandson Mark now
run the Company. Jack studied cinema with George Lucas at
Southern Cal. He now devotes his time developing new concepts
in interactive game play and loves to paint with light (Digital
Photography). Mark runs the company, sells new and used amusement
games, likes to fish and talk football.
Louis Boasberg's Dad, Jack Mark Boasberg, ran a small gambling
Hall (the Beverly) in this area while young Satchmo, Louis
Armstrong played his cool Jazz to the customers.
Jack remembers walking down Boubon Street in New Orleans
with Nolan Bushnell, the founder of Atari. He told Jack he
had some great ideas about putting games in a cabinet with
a video screen. Soon after the "Big Bang" of video
games happened. Video Games are now a major part of our entertainment
culture.
Jack will never forget when Nolan sent our Company a Computer
Space Game with a Sara Lee Pie Pan in the bottom of the cabinet
to collect the falling quarters.
New Orleans Novelty Company set up one of the first airport
game rooms in the country and operated one of the first free
standing arcades, "The Fun Arcade". The Fun Arcade
is still around and remains a very sucessful arcade today.
The "Game Klub" is New Orleans Novelty Company's
newest concept arcade for interactive game play. The Game
Klub is located within our main complex at 3030 N. Arnoult
Road in Metairie, Louisiana 70002 (only a few minutes from
New Orleans).
